Year 6 Camp
Once again, Year 6 Camp was a brilliant experience for the students with all of them returning with stories to tell. We received wonderful feedback from Dare Adventure Camps about our students’ preparedness to have a go even if the activity appeared daunting, the encouragement and kindness shown to each other, willingness to eat everything that was served for meals, and respect shown to camp and school staff. Camp would not have been possible without the work of Miss Skye Mercer, Mr Harry Cutler, Mrs Jayne Butler, Mrs Heidi D’Uva, Mr Rhys Sutherland and Miss Sanela Sivic. Each of them had a significant part to play to ensure that camp went ahead and was enjoyable. Thank you too to all of the families who made sure that their children had everything that they needed for the four days.
Indonesian success
Our school participated in the Side By Side Competition which was run by the Modern Languages Teachers’ Association of WA. Ibu Mulyana submitted a recording of our students having a conversation in Indonesian. Congratulations to Grace G and Lydia E who came first in the Year 1-6 Competition. Well done to Ibu on the great success that she had with the students.
Colour Run
The Colour Run is fast approaching. It’s happening on Thursday 9 November 2023 and commences at 1:45 pm at the school.
Remember that all money raised goes to the P&C Association which in turn helps our students. Please go to the website to donate. Colour Run (mycause.com.au)
Currently the top three primary school classes are:
Mr Brooke – Year 4, Room 7
Ms Ireland – Pre-Primary, Room 31
Mrs Harding – Pre-Primary, Room 32
In case you are wondering what happens to the money, Joondalup Schools has used P&C money to help subsidise Year 6 Camp, purchase mini trampolines for Kindy, develop the Nature Play area, and to buy reading books, new equipment for the garden area, and construction, Lego, magnets and train and road sets for Pre-Primary. Every dollar matters and makes a difference.
Swimming lessons
Swimming lessons continue this week and next for the students in Years 3-5. In the last fortnight the PP-Year 2 students had their swimming lessons. Year 6 students need to wait a few more weeks before they have their lessons at the beach. The students are having a wonderful time at the pool and look forward to their lessons each day. The preparation for swimming lessons is extensive and I would like to thank Mrs Carol Perry and Ms Natalie Farina for their work behind the scenes.
World Teachers Day 2023
On Friday Australia celebrates World Teachers Day. It is a day when we recognise the valuable contribution that teachers make to schools. I would like to acknowledge the hard work of the teachers at Joondalup Schools for their dedication and professionalism. Each day they work hard to ensure that every student engages in the learning program and works towards the goals set for them individually and as a class. There is no doubt that education continues to change, and the staff consciously work towards building their knowledge and skills to be the best they can be.
Right alongside our teachers are education assistants and support staff who equally contribute to making the school as successful as it is. Thank you to all of these people who add so much.
School Development Day
Please remember that Friday 10 November 2023 is a School Development Day so no children come to school. The staff will be participating in professional learning.
