Year 5 Leadership Sleepover
Last week, the Year 5 students had the opportunity to participate in a sleep over at the school, in preparation for their leadership campaigns. The students spent Thursday night at school, sleeping in the classrooms (or did they sleep?). This allowed students to identify who amongst them attributed the best possible leadership qualities. The Year 5s also participated in several leadership games focused on communication, teamwork and problem solving. An emphasis was placed on leadership qualities to ensure the most informed decisions will be made in the upcoming leadership campaign in Term 4. The students all had a fantastic time and showed great leadership skills, the lack of sleep was definitely worth it.
Here are some things the students had to say about the event:
I really enjoyed the school sleepover. It was a great experience. It was really fun to spend time with friends and work with different people. The best thing was spotlight. I was able to connect with people I don’t usually talk to and have fun at the same time.

I really enjoyed the sleepover. We had delicious dinner and breakfast and played fun games. My favourite game was the mixed spotlight and cops and robbers game. Mr Brooke was nice enough to reward that game with prizes. Thank you teachers.

The leadership sleepover was very fun. The activities were really fun and we got to work as a team with people we don’t normally talk to. The meals were really good. We got to watch a movie and have popcorn which was the best part. If anyone was talking or being silly, the teachers were really good and did something about it.
