Art with Mrs Sweet
The year five and six students viewed penguins in Antarctica. A landscape collage was created. Acrylic paint was used for the background. The penguins were drawn in pencil and the students selected the medium for colouring. Many were coloured in felt pen or pencil. Space was the element of art that was the focus. The students used the techniques of size, colour and a value, detail, overlapping and placement on the page to create the illusion of space.

The Endurance
After 107 years, the ship, The Endurance was found 3008 metres below sea level. Ernest Shackleton was exploring the Antarctic when it sank. The Endurance looks very much the same as the day it sank. The students in rooms 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 drew the ship from direct instruction and then outlined it an felt pen and added colour with pastels.
