Art with Mrs Sweet
It's been a very busy time in the Art Room. We have been creating a mural for the backdrop for the Carols by Candlelight event. Most classes have contributed to the huge mural.
The students in Room 31 viewed the artwork of George Seurat and pointillism. They painted the beach sand using lots of dots. They also worked with colour mixing blue and yellow with their fingers to create the grass.
The Year One students viewed the whimsical artwork of Marc Chagall. They had fun drawing and painting buildings with a whimsical feel.
The students in Year Two looked at The Great Wave by Katsushika Hokusai. They worked with the design principle of movement and used acrylic to paint a great wave. Their waves have all been cut out and put together to create the ocean.
The Year Two and Three students viewed the artwork of Vincent van Gogh with the focus being "A Starry Night". Using acrylic and working with the design principle of movement, they each painted part of the sky.
The students in Room 8 viewed the work of Wassily Kandinsky and painted baubles. Once dry they worked with the design principle of pattern to embellish them with gold and silver paint.
The students in Year 5 revisited the artwork of David Hockney. They have created some great characters.
There is still more to be added to the mural. I am really looking forward to seeing it hanging up at the Carols by Candlelight event. I hope you can come along and enjoy a great night of the arts.
