Art with Mrs Sweet

Helen Sweet.jpg

Floral Landscape

The Year 1 students worked with the elements of colour, line and value to create these stunning floral landscapes.  They worked like Monet creating an impression of a field of flowers.

The students began by painting a bright yellow sun on the page using circular motions with a large paint brush. White was added to create a lighter value and circled around the sun.  More and more white was added as the circles around the sun got bigger and bigger, until the whole page was filled. Once the acrylic paint was dry, the lines representing the stems and leaves were printed on using the edge of a piece of cardboard.  The flowers were then added in violet paint using circular motions. The complimentary colours, yellow and violet, create a vibrant piece of art.

Bottles

The students in Year 4 traced around bottles to create a composition. Using a cool colour they worked with the element of value to paint them in acrylic.

They started with the base colour and then kept adding white to create the different tints. Silver paint markers were used to trace around the shapes.

Fish

The Year 2 students previously created cats and now they have printed fish. The fish were draw onto foam trays and etched in. After a little help with cutting the fish out the students painted the printing blocks with white paint and printed a school of fish. One coloured fish was added for interest. This piece of work focused on the principles of design, pattern, contrast and emphasis.

Landscape

The element of Space was the focus for this piece of artwork. The students in Year 3 worked with techniques to create space on the page. They are size, colour, overlapping, higher up the page and detail.
