Reconciliation Week
Reconciliation Week
On Thursday 27th May our Schools acknowledged the start of Reconciliation week. National Reconciliation Week is held annually from 27th May - 3rd June. Reconciliation is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
As a campus, we launched Reconciliation Week with an assembly followed by various activities concluding with a picnic lunch. We all had a chance to taste kangaroo sausages, have our face painted and read about some influential Indigenous people while listening to songs from Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australian singers.
It was wonderful to see the whole school community coming together to experience some of the history and culture of our Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders peoples.
Thank you to Bev Shaw, Mrs Hore, Mrs Read, Mrs Bennett, Mrs Young and all our other wonderful helpers for making this such a successful event.
