Dear families

Year 6 Camp

Camp_1.jpg

Welcome back to our Year 6 Campers!  They had a wonderful week away where they challenged themselves to scale heights, jump off a platform, ride a bike a long way, walk through dark bush and eat someone else’s cooking.  Now it is time to do the washing, have a long shower and catch up on some sleep.

A huge thank you to Miss Skye Mercer, Mr Kyle Easther, Mr Robert Lee, Miss Rhiannon O’Connor, Mrs Amanda Wendt and Mrs Sue Egan for all of their work in organising and attending the camp.  They love Camp as much as the students and we want to say thank you for being part of the experience and making it possible for the children.

Back at school some of the Year 6 students enjoyed a range of activities including cooking, extra Science lessons, and excursions.  A huge thank you to Ms Sanela Sivic for all of the time and effort given to make this week so special.

Thank you to Mr Lee for all the work he put into the carnival.  He has spent plenty of time making sure that things would go to plan.

Thank you to Mr Joe Ferraloro for getting the teams ready each Tuesday and taking the children through their paces.

Thank you to all of the staff for providing advice, being flexible with classes, helping with weekly training sessions, setting up and packing away equipment, and giving lots of encouragement throughout the day.    A special thank you to the office staff for their work at the carnival.

Thank you to Mr Jack Tan, our gardener, for marking the oval for the day.

Thank you to Carolyn and the team in the canteen for managing the day’s catering. We enjoyed our lunches and the steady supply of hot drinks.

Thank you to the many relief staff who stepped up on one of our busiest days; their efforts were appreciated.

Thank you to all of the families who were able to come along and support their children and factions.

Finally, and most importantly, thank you to all of the children who participated fairly, cheered loudly, and entered into the excitement of the carnival.  We couldn’t have done with it without you!

Here is what two children wrote about the carnival:

Last Friday I had my faction carnival. My class and the school went on our school oval for our faction carnival.

All the year twos and under did their races and the year threes and above did their team games. The year threes did bean bag relay, then passball, leaderball and finally star relay. Then we had recess. After recess we did our running races. I came fifth. After the races we had sausage sizzle lunch.

Everybody watched the tug- o-war after lunch. The year threes had their tug-o-war and gold won. At the end of the day we found out that Green won the carnival and then we went home. I had a fun time at the Faction carnival.

Isaac – Year 3

On Friday the 11th of September it was the faction carnival. The whole school and my class went to the school oval for the day.

The first thing we did was the small kids and year twos did the running races. I was first. Then it was recess. I sat with my best friend in Green. Next we played the team games which were pass ball, star relay, bean bag relay and leader ball. After it was lunch. I had a lunch order which was a hot dog and Juice Bomb. Then I went in the grand relay running race. After we cleaned up the tent and heard who won the carnival.

I felt happy and ecstatic because Green won.

Layla – Year 2

ThinkUKnow

Last week the Year 5 and 6 children participated in a workshop presented by Sergeant Tanya Beverly, from WA Police, about cybersafety.  The workshop was called ThinkUKnow.  There were a number of key messages for the children including keeping passwords and usernames secure, using the privacy settings on devices, and who to talk to if they feel unsafe.

A parent workshop will be held on 4th November 2020 at 6.30pm and information will be sent home next term.  Please note that you will be required to register as place are limited.
