NAIDOC Celebrations

The students in Pre-Primary and from Years 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 viewed rock art created by Aboriginal people, that is estimated to be up to around 40,000 years old. The process in which paint was made from ochre and its application was studied.

The Pre-Primary students and Year 2 and 3 students looked at the meaning of hands stenciled onto the rock wall.

Handprints were then created by the Pre-Primary students. After learning about dot painting they painted dots in traditional colours, around their hands.

The Year 3 and 4 students created foot stencils. After learning about songlines and dot painting they used dots to create lines across the page.

Students in Years 4, 5 and 6 created great dot paintings using concentric circles after learning the history of dot painting.
