Faction Athletics Carnival
It’s a busy week with Friday being our Faction Athletics Carnival and some events already being held yesterday and today. I know that this week is a highlight for many students and their families. The weather looks perfect for our carnival day but please remember suncream to prevent sunburn. Information was sent to all families via Compass last week. I look forward to seeing lots of families at school to cheer on each faction.
P&C Association Cake Stall
There will be a cake stall at the Faction Carnival on Friday. If you would like to make something to sell, please bring it to school on Friday morning. All of the ingredients need to be listed on the packaging. No nuts please.
Disco news
Lots of students danced the night away at last Friday's P&C Disco. It was noisy, there was lots of laughter, glow sticks were waved in the air, limbo, crazy dance moves and plenty of food. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped with the planning and on the night. I would like to also acknowledge the P&C for making this event FREE. The tireless effort that goes into fundraising helps everyone.

Public School Review
Next Monday the school will be participating in our Public School Review. The purpose of the review is to determine if the school is meeting ‘The Standard’ in the following areas: Relationships and Partnership, Learning Area, Teaching Quality, Leadership, Use of Resources, and Student Achievement and Data. The school has submitted over 150 pages of evidence and supportive text to demonstrate what has happened in the school between 2022 and 2024. A director from the Department’s Public School Review team and a fellow principal will spend a day in the school and meet with staff, the School Board and P&C Association members to discuss the documents and ask questions about the school. Following the review, a report is written which will be made available to the school community.
I would like to acknowledge the work of all staff who have contributed to the documentation. Producing that volume of work in a relatively short space of time has required many meetings, lots of brainstorming and hours of writing. I am very grateful and value the expertise and professionalism of the staff.
Staff acknowledgements
In the past few weeks some staff have led students so that they could have a wonderful opportunity. Thank you to:
Mrs Nerelle Phillips for working students so that they could be part of Joondalup Learning Community Science Week Competition. We won!
Mr Craig Morrey and Mr Kyle Easther for taking some of the Year 5 and 6 students to complete in the Joondalup Clam Series Basketball Cup. Both of the teams were runner ups!
Mr Rhys Sutherland for taking the choir to One Big Voice. Thank you also to Miss Brittany Todd, Ms Shannon Read and Mrs Tayla Lindemann for being helpers at the performance.
Mrs Penny Thornton for helping the Year 3 and 4 students to create great artwork that has been included in the AWESOME Festival.
The efforts of the staff for all their hard work throughout the term is greatly appreciated.
Assembly update
The final Term 3 assembly will be held on Tuesday 17 September from 2:15 pm. It is being presented by the classes in the middle years for ESC.
RU OK? Day
To recognise RU OK? Day on Thursday the students can come to school dressed in yellow and black. There is no gold coin requirement The mission for RU OK? is to get everyone to have more conversations about how they are doing. It is about checking in with family, friends and classmates to help them get through tough times.
Positive Behaviour Support News
It has been a pleasure to see so many students come to morning tea throughout the term as recognition for being the highest dojo recipient in their class for the fortnight. In any given fortnight students can collect as many 80 dojos for showing respect, responsibility, kindness and doing their best. The students are working towards collecting 100 000 so that we can have another reward day.
Each fortnight we have an expectation focus this term we have talked about in class this term:
- We are Responsible – We are prepared, organised and ready to learn.
- We do Our Best – We show good sporting spirit.
- We are Kind – We work together and encourage others.
- We are Respectful – We allow others to learn.
Dogs on school grounds
There have been a number of incidents where dogs have been tied up outside school grounds and left unattended. At times students have become frightened when a dog has jumped suddenly, or barked unexpectedly, and no one is close by looking after the dog. If you are walking dogs to school please do not leave them unattended. If students are able to walk to class by themselves, it may be an idea to say goodbye at the gate, so you are able to stay with your dog.
School Parking
To ensure the safety of our students and staff, please use the parking areas and Kiss and Drive located in the surrounds of the school and not the staff parking area, located outside the administration building. This area is clearly signposted for staff parking only and is frequented by school buses in the morning and afternoon. Using this area to drop off and collect students poses a danger to anyone walking across the carpark.
School holidays
The last day of the school term is Friday 20 September 2024 and the first day of Term 4 is Monday 7 October 2024. I wish everyone a wonderful holiday break and hope that you make the most of the change in weather as the days become warmer.
