Welcome to the latest update from our vibrant art room.

Our Year 5 and 6 students recently had the incredible opportunity to participate in an artist workshop led by the talented Kim Mintz. This enriching experience has greatly contributed to their artistic development and exploration. During the workshop, the students delved into the world of charcoal, learning and applying various techniques and processes. They practised drawing from life, focusing on enhancing their skills in shading and value. The dedication and creativity of our students was truly inspiring, and their talent shone brightly throughout the workshop. I was thrilled to see their confidence grow. Their hard work and enthusiasm has resulted in some truly remarkable artwork.

Our talented Year 4 students had a unique learning experience as they delved into the Element of Art Value, learning new terms such as hue, base colour, tint, and shade. Each student began by drawing a cactus and dividing it into four sections. To create a captivating background, the students were introduced to the wet-on-wet technique using ink, allowing them to explore blending and layering colours. Using the hue green as their base, the students mixed their own shades and tints to bring their cacti to life. Finally, they used oil pastels to add intricate details and texture, enhancing the visual impact of their artwork. Through this project, the students not only honed their artistic skills but also developed a deeper understanding of colour theory and value, making their learning journey truly unique and valuable.
