WA Day

This week is WA week! Students have celebrated by taking a whole campus photo in the shape of WA. On Thursday we dressed up as our favourite WA team or something that represents WA. We had a number of tabloid games which we did together as a whole campus. It has been a great week. Stay tuned for photos in our next newsletter!

Professional Development Day

Last Friday the staff participated in a full day of Professional Development on Friendly Schools. Friendly Schools is a multi-component, evidence-based initiative involving the whole-school community to build social skills, create supportive environments and significantly reduce bullying in school communities. All the teachers now have their own resource books to assist them to teach some of the strategies around social and emotional competencies. Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.

Reporting to the Office

It has come to my attention that there are a number of parents who enter the school grounds during our school day and do not report to the office. This poses a huge work, health and safety risk for us as a school. Should there be an emergency, we need to know who is on site so that we can make sure that everyone, including parents are safe. To this end, could I ask that if you are coming into the school grounds during the school day that you sign in at the School Office to obtain a visitor’s pass and then sign back out at the Office as you leave. This is standard practice in any school and is a requirement of the Department of Education.

Reports

Semester One reports will be emailed to parents on Thursday 4th July. Please take the time to read this semester's report with your child, celebrating achievements no matter how small. If you have any concerns, please contact your child's teacher as soon as possible to make an appointment to discuss. Your child's report will only be able to be downloaded for the four (4) weeks.

Medication at School

If your child needs to take medication at school, whether temporary or ongoing, your first stop is the School Office for the appropriate form to be completed. The School has very specific processes in place to ensure the safe storage and administration of medications.
